Community guidelines
How we treat each other at plans, in chats and in albums. Short on purpose, and taken seriously.
Kept works because people keep their word and treat each other well. These guidelines apply to everyone: guests, hosts and venues, in plans, in chats and in albums. They are short on purpose. If something is not listed here but is clearly unkind or unsafe, it is not allowed either.
Show up, or cancel early
A plan is a promise to a group. When you say “I’m in”, you are taking a spot someone else could have had.
- Come when you said you would. If you are running late, say so in the plan chat.
- If you cannot make it, cancel as early as you can. Cancelling 24 or more hours before never counts against you.
- Do not join plans “just in case”. Join the ones you are going to.
Be kind, especially to new people
Most people at a plan have never met. Being the first friendly face is the most useful thing you can do.
- Say hello, learn names, include the person standing at the edge.
- Play to the level of the plan. Beginner friendly means beginner friendly.
- Disagree without being rude. Criticise ideas, not people.
Keep it about the plan
People come to play, eat, hike or make something, not to be sold to or pursued.
- Kept is not a dating app. Do not use plans to pursue people romantically, and never keep going after someone says no or does not respond.
- No selling, recruiting, pitching or fundraising at plans unless the plan says so up front, like a founders’ demo night.
- No collecting contact details for marketing. Venues only get details from people who choose to share them.
Respect “no”
No to a drink, a photo, a hug, a second plan, a phone number or a ride home. No needs no reason. Pressuring someone after they have said no, or after they have made it clear, is harassment.
Look after each other
- If someone seems unwell or unsafe, check on them, and use the safety button if needed.
- Know your limits with alcohol. Do not pressure anyone to drink.
- Leave places as you found them: courts, parks, tables, trails.
Photos and privacy
- Ask before photographing people up close. Some people prefer not to be in pictures, and that is fine.
- Albums are for the people who were there. Do not repost other people’s faces publicly without asking.
- Never share someone’s personal details, address or location with anyone.
Age and alcohol
Everyone on Kept is 18 or over. Plans built around alcohol are 21 and over, and you must bring ID when the plan asks. Never bring someone under the age limit to a plan.
What is not allowed
These lead to removal from Kept, sometimes permanently and without warning:
- Harassment, threats, stalking or intimidation, online or in person.
- Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, age or any other protected characteristic.
- Violence, or bringing weapons to a plan.
- Sexual contact without clear consent, or any unwanted sexual comments or advances.
- Illegal drugs, or encouraging illegal activity.
- Scams, fake plans, false identities, or taking payments outside Kept for a plan listed on it.
- Posting explicit, violent or hateful content in chats or albums.
- Creating a new account after being removed.
What happens when someone breaks these
A person on our team reviews every report. Depending on what happened, we may give a warning, remove someone from upcoming plans, suspend their account, or ban them. Where there is a threat to someone’s safety, we cooperate with the police. We tell the person who reported that we acted, while protecting everyone’s privacy.
How to report
Report a person from their name in any plan, or report a plan from the plan itself. For something urgent, use the safety button in the plan. You can also write to support@keptplans.com. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number first.
