Plans with strangers only work if everyone feels safe showing up. Here is everything we do, and everything you can do.
Verification
Verification comes in levels.
The more a person can do on Kept, the more we know about them.
Confirmed email
Everyone. Needed to join any plan.
A card on file
Anyone who commits a hold. It ties a real payment card to the account, which quietly keeps out a lot of bad actors.
Verified host
Hosts verify their identity before running bigger plans, paid plans or plans at home.
Where plans happen
Public places, and the address only after you join.
- Plans happen in public places by default: parks, courts, restaurants, cafes, venues.
- New hosts must use public places for their first three plans, with 12 people or fewer.
- Plans at a home are only for verified hosts, and only for activities that allow it, like board games or cooking.
- The public page shows an area, like a neighborhood. The exact address goes only to people who joined.
Location privacy
Your location is yours.
We store your home location rounded to a neighborhood, only to show you nearby plans. Nobody else sees it.
“Where the group is” is off by default. When you turn it on, it only works during a plan, and only for people in that plan. When the plan ends, it stops.
Location check-in uses your position once, at that moment, to confirm you are there.
During a plan

The safety button
In every plan, always visible. It offers your local emergency number first, and alerts our team with the plan details.
Emergency call
For danger or a medical emergency, always call your local emergency number. The button makes it one tap.
Leave any time
You can leave any plan, any time. Leaving for a safety reason never counts against you. Tell us what happened.
Age
18 and over. Some plans, 21 and over.
Kept is for adults. Everyone confirms they are 18 or older when they sign up, and we never show anyone’s age.
Plans built around alcohol, like bar nights and tastings, are 21 and over. They are only shown to people who are 21 or older, and venues check ID at the door.
Reporting and moderation
What happens when you report something.
Report anyone from their name in a plan, or report the plan itself. You can block someone at the same time, so you never see each other’s plans again.

Every report is read by our team.
We look at the report, the plan, and any past reports about the same person.

From a warning to a permanent ban.
Depending on what happened: a warning, removal from plans, a suspension, or a ban. Where there is a threat to someone’s safety, we cooperate with the police.
- You hear back
We tell you it was handled.
We cannot always share the details, to protect everyone’s privacy, but you will know we acted.
Hosts
Hosts are checked, and kept to a standard.
- Hosts verify their identity before running bigger, paid or home plans.
- After every plan, guests leave private feedback about the host.
- Hosts who cancel often, misdescribe plans or get repeated reports lose hosting.
- Every host agrees to the host guidelines.
Deposits protect hosts too
A no-show is not just rude. It costs someone.
A host who booked a court for ten and got six is out of pocket, and four people who wanted to play did not get the spot.
The hold means people who say yes come. When they do not, 50% of their hold goes to the host who booked the space.

Is it safe to meet strangers?
We build for it. Plans happen in public places, new hosts must start there, the exact address goes only to people who joined, and every plan has a safety button. Trust your gut: you can leave any plan, any time.
What does the safety button do?
It is in every plan. One tap offers to call emergency services and alerts our team with the plan details. Use it for anything from feeling unsafe to a medical problem.
How do I report someone?
From their name in any plan, or from the plan itself. A person on our team reviews every report. You can also block someone so you never see each other’s plans.
Who can see my location?
Nobody, by default. Plans show an area, not an address. “Where the group is” is optional, only works during a plan, and only shows to people in that plan.

Is this a dating app?
No. Kept is for doing things with people. There are no swipes, no photo grids and no gender filters. You meet people through a plan, in a group, doing something you both like.
