How it works

From “we should” to “we did.”

Eight steps, one loop. Here is what happens from the moment you find a plan to the moment you do it again.

BeforeDuringAfter

The loop, step by step

Eight steps. Most take a tap.

  1. 1

    Discover

Browse plans near you by what you love, when you are free and how big a group you like. Or tap “I’m bored” and let us pick.

  2. 2

    Join

Tap “I’m in.” You see who else is going, first names only, and how many spots are left.

  3. 3

    Commit

Confirm a $10 hold on your card. It is not a charge. It is what makes everyone’s yes mean yes.

  4. 4

    Get ready

The exact spot, a plan chat, what to bring, the forecast, and a reminder the day before.

  5. 5

    Show up

Tap “You’re here” when you arrive. That check-in is what releases your hold.

  6. 6

    Do the thing

Play, eat, climb, talk. The host keeps it moving, and the safety button is always one tap away.

  7. 7

    Keep the memory

Everyone’s photos land in one album, only for the people who were there.

  8. 8

    Do it again

Rejoin, follow the club, or host your own. Your Kept rate grows every time you show up.

Why it is a loop

Every kept plan makes the next one easier.

Showing up builds your Kept rate. A good rate means smaller holds. Good nights turn into clubs, and guests turn into hosts.

  1. Discover

Find plans that fit what you love, near you, at times you are actually free.

  2. Join

Tap "I'm in." See who else is going, first names only.

  3. Commit

A $10 hold on your card. Not a charge.

  4. Show up

Check in when you get there. Your hold is released.

  5. Keep the memory

One shared album, only for the people who were there.

  6. Do it again

Rejoin the next one, or host your own.

Before, during, after

The plan, in detail.

A plan on Kept is a small shared space for the people going. It opens when you join and wraps up with the album.

Before

Sorted before you leave the house

Once you are in, the plan becomes a small shared space for the people going.

  • The detailsTime, area, level, price and the host's notes in one place.
  • A group chatOnly for people who joined. It closes a few days after the plan.
  • Map and exact spotThe exact address appears after you join, never before.
  • Add to calendarOne tap. Updates follow if the host changes the time.
  • WeatherFor outdoor plans, with the host's call if it turns.
  • What to bringThe host's list, so nobody shows up to a hike in sandals.
  • CountdownA nudge the day before and an hour before.

During

"You're here."

When you arrive, the plan switches into day-of mode.

  • Check inScan the host's code, or check in by location. That is what releases your hold.
  • Where the group isOptional and only during the plan, for finding each other at a big park or festival.
  • ItineraryStops and times for crawls, hikes and anything with more than one place.
  • Safety buttonAlways one tap away. Call emergency services or alert our team.
  • Quick pollsWhich court, which bar next, pizza or tacos.
  • "Grabbing food after?"The best part of the plan is sometimes the plan after.

After

The part that makes it a habit

The plan ends. The good parts stick around.

  • Shared albumEveryone's photos in one place, only for people who were there.
  • Rate the planPrivate feedback for the host. It shapes who sees their next plan.
  • ConnectKeep in touch with the people you would plan with again.
  • RejoinIf it was a club or a regular thing, you are one tap from the next one.
  • Host the next oneLoved it? Run it yourself. Most hosts start as guests.

Check-in

Three ways to check in.

Check-in is the moment that counts. It releases your hold and marks the plan as kept.

  • Scan the host’s code

The host shows a code on their phone. Scan it and you are in. Quick, and hard to fake from the couch.

  • Check in by location

For plans spread over a park, a beach or a trailhead, check in when you get there. Location is used for that moment only.

  • The host checks you in

For big groups, or when your phone died on the way. The host ticks you off the list.

Settlement

What happens after the plan.

Settlement is how the money side wraps up. Most of the time there is nothing to settle: everyone came, and every hold was released.

  1. You arrive

    Your hold is released.

The moment you check in. Nothing else to do.

  2. The plan ends

Anyone not checked in is marked absent.

The host gets a short window to fix mistakes, like someone who came but forgot to tap.

  3. Money moves

Kept holds are split, paid plans are settled.

A kept hold goes 50% to the host and 50% to Kept. Paid plans are charged, and hosts are paid out through Stripe.

  4. Something wrong?

    Tell us from the plan.

Checked in but marked absent? Charged when the host cancelled? Report it from the plan and a person will look at the check-in record and put it right.

Questions, answered

All help topics

How do I join a plan?

Open a plan, tap “I’m in”, and confirm the hold on your card. You get the exact spot, the plan chat and the details straight away.

How do I check in?

When you arrive, open the plan and tap “You’re here.” Most hosts show a code to scan; some plans use your location instead. Checking in is what releases your hold.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancel 24 or more hours before and the hold is released in full. Inside 24 hours, 50% is kept, unless someone from the waitlist takes your spot. Then you get it all back.

How does the waitlist work?

When a plan is full you can join its waitlist. If a spot opens, the next person gets it and commits then. If you cancel late and a waitlist person takes your spot, your whole hold comes back.

What if the host cancels?

Every hold is released automatically and you get a message straight away. The same happens if the weather cancels the plan or it does not reach its minimum.

What if I am running late?

Say so in the plan chat. Check-in stays open for a while after the start time. If you cannot make it at all, cancel as early as you can; it helps the person on the waitlist.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, if the plan has room. Send an invite from the plan. Your friend joins with their own hold, and you both show up on the list. More about invites.

Can I go on my own?

Yes, and most people do at first. Every plan is built for people who have not met. Hosts start with introductions, and you will know first names before you arrive.
